چکیده

Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) is a prevailing and notorious infection in developing countries causing serious local damage and threatening complications. It is characterised by painless discharge from ears dating from months to years and is the single major cause of deafness in India. It is common amongst children of low socio economic strata (Mymen, 2005). The introduction of antibiotics has reduced the incidence of intra cranial complications in otitis media. Early and effective treatment based on the knowledge of causing microorganisms and their sensitivity results in good clinical recovery and prevents damage and complications. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the most common pathogen among the cases of CSOM reported by several workers in India and abroad with an incidence ranging from 21% to 52.94% (Gulati et al., 1969; Brook et al., 1979; Ayyagiri et al., 1981; International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 6 Number 6 (2017) pp. 2912-2916 Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com

Investigating Class I, II and III Integrons in Multidrug Resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolated from Hospital Infections in Ahvaz

Background and Aims: The indiscriminate use of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The presence of integrons in Pseudomonas is clearly associated with multidrug resistances. Therefore, this study aimed at tracking class I, II and III integrons of antibiotic-resistant isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa th...

Outer Membrane Protein D Gene in Clinical Isolates of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and its Role in Antibiotic Resistance

Background & Objectives: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a common cause of nosocomial infection. OprD protein is a specific protein regulating the uptake of carbapenem antibiotic. Loss of OprD is the main mechanism of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa resistance to carbapenem. In this study, the presence of OprD gene is investigated in isolated Pseudomonas Aeruginosa in burn patients of Ghotboddin hospital in S...

Antibiotic Susceptibility of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Isolated from Cystic Fibrosis Patients

Abstract Background and Objective: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an autosomal recessive genetic disease and Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most common bacteria colonized in CF patients. Growing resistance of this bacterium to antibiotics now a day is a challenge of controlling infection in CF patient. In this study colonization of CF patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa and antibiotic suscep...
